Wicket Keeper
Veteran Pete is a product of the 2006 TSJ recruitment drive to unearth young talent in the Bury area. The results? Octagenarian Duncan P and Pete "Moses" Allen, a combined age of 135. Pete is a top wicket keeper, formerly a mainstay at Bury CC, and shares first team keeping duties with Cliff. Pete's well known for standing up to the bat, even for Doc P and Flash, and has taken some memorable stumpings off both of them, not least the amazing one handed legside stumping off a rampaging Doc at Dalians in 2006 which left even the batsman completely awestruck.
Pete's also chipped in with some handy lower order runs, and notched his maiden TSJ half century at Ashton in 2007. His coolness under pressure is well-known, as is his love of sledging the batsmen!
THAT stumping, 50 at Ashton, edging us to victory against Elton Vale in 2007. Off field, a particularly great moment was on the 2006 end of season fancy dress pub crawl, when he went into the Lamb completely hidden under a monk's robe and cowl, only for someone to almost immediately shout "Awright Pete" across the pub. Clearly, he goes in dressed like that all the time ...
