Massive news coming out of Crompton Meadows today with the announcement that Tottington St Johns Ladies Rounders are set to form alliances with two rival European sides to compete in the 2012 inaugural European inter-Village championships.
Following the cricket side's immensely successful tour of Nice in April 2010, contact was made with Medames Rounders de Saint Vallier (Nice Rounders); with both sides unable to guarantee a large turnout so far in advance, a third team, the popular North east Italian side of Donna A'Lotta (hailing from the mountain village of A'Lotta), was approached. After the three clubs reached a consensus, the trio will compete in the Championships under one banner.
Club veteran Jane Doodson commented "This affords a unique opportunity to bring the Tottington ethos to the Continent" while skipper Michelle echoed her other's comments, saying "We're gonna drink Europe dry!"
A map showing the locations of the three sides is shown below. Obviously at this very early stage, more details are sketchy, but it's believed the team will be known as A'Lotta Nice Totty.
