SPRING HAS SPRUNG

March has started in fine style, with temperatures soaring into the high teens. Our intrepid groundsman and his willing helpers have been busy through the winter keeping the ground as dry as possible, and as the weather improves KC has now been able to get the square cut. With just over six weeks to the new season it's all hands on deck to get Crompton Meadows cricket-ready.

Let's see what KC has been up to - in his own words!

"This week I have mostly been doing:
Pre season groundwork - when the weather allows!
Learning on the job and understanding when to do what and when too much is worse than too little!
The square: spiking (to aerate the soil) brushing (to disperse any contaminants present from dew or worm casts) and light rolling (increase weight when compaction will not adversely effect new seed growth) and a bit of overseeding on baldish areas.
Outfield: slitting (plus contractor to Verti drain next week), brushing and mowing if allowed. Spring fert a little in a week or so (both square and outfield)
Service all mowers and check all covers, nets, sightscreens etc.
You could hear the grass growing today!"

As the photos below show, we're getting there!
