LAST WICKET HEARTBREAK FOR 1S; 2S BEAT BLACKLEY BUT MISS OUT ON CUP FINAL

How many last wicket / last over / last ball thrillers will we endure this season? The 1sts lost out to Blackley's last wicket pair on Saturday after posting a competitive score of 213 with several batsmen absent; in baking conditions this was a decent effort and featured a first half century of the season from Asif, but once again a lack of firepower meant that Blackley were able to scrape over the line! That's now 5 games out of 10 where the game has hinged on a final wicket or over, and we've lost most of them!

The 2s fared much better on Saturday in the reverse fixture, securing a relatively easy home win against Blackley 2s by 50 runs to move up the Division 4 table and look an outside bet for challenging at the top - long way to go though and plenty of strong teams! Sunday saw more heartbreak in teh cup semi-final; despite posting a reasonable 177-4, with George Green notching a second half century in as many weeks, the Bury III outfit was able to secure a win and reach the cup final, where we wish them all the best!

Perhaps next week we can avoid the last ball/wicket dramas? :)
