1STS BLITZ ASHTON TO MAKE UP FOR SATURDAY LOSS

Talk about a weekend of two halves ... on Saturday the 1sts were soundly beaten by league champs Fothergill and Harvey in a 25 over a side affair. Totts more orthodox style is never suited to quick cricket, but thanks to Ashley's 49 and Marshy's 34 not out, we managed to set the visitors a respectable 150+ to win. However, some wayward bowling all round and some strong hitting saw Failsworth stroll to victory inside 15 overs.

Back close to full strength (minus the vocal KC) for Sunday, Totts then handed out a demolition to struggling Ashton, who looked to be a few players short. Asif and the Doc made early inroads, and when the final man was run out in the 16th over, the visitors had been shot out for just 30, with Doc claiming 5-17 and Asif returning impressive figures of 4-8 off his 8 overs.

In the past we've stumbled towards small targets, but any thoughts of this were dispelled inside 4 balls as Ashley hit two boundaries then walloped one clean over the pavilion. With Duncan also easing the ball around, we reached the target in just 17 balls, despite losing Ash as he tried to hit another out of the ground.
