Final 2nd XI averages 2012

Here are the final 2nd XI league and cup averages for 2012.

On the batting front, it was pleasing to see several new players emerge. With Mike Ainscoe and Mike Jones unable to play almost all season, and 2009-11 average winner Danny Moriarty of course having left for ELPM, the batting looked much weaker on paper - however new players stepped in, and the juniors got plenty of match experience (some at 1st XI level too). Well done to Mick D for nicking the averages award. As with the 1sts, so many players missing didn't help continuity, but it afforded lots of opportunity for the youngsters.

On the bowling front, young Ry Marsh stepped up and had a tremendous 1st full senior season, and also became the youngest TSJ player ever to take 1st division wickets. Rob had his usual solid year, while Sail proved that canny spinners can do the business, just pipping Rob to top the club averages.
