DOUBLE DEFEATS IN OPENING WEEKEND

Under unseasonably warm April skies, both teams got their 2011 campaigns off to an uninspiring start. The 1sts went down to an 8 wicket defeat at home against Littleborough Lakeside, for whom young Aussie McKeough scored a classy hundred. There was some positive signs from the game, with Big Bird notching a welcome 58; with several key players set to return next week, hopefully fortunes will change round then.

The 2nds opened their season with an equally heavy loss, yielding a massive 265 to Edgworth III; a valiant rearguard effort ensured that Totts weren't dismissed, but could only manage 124-9 in return. They too will be hoping for better fortunes next weekend!
