FOUR OUT OF FOUR IN SUMMER SUN

A convincing batting performance saw the 1sts back on form and back on track with a 122 run win against Greenmount. Half centuries for Kieran, Bret and Ry Marsh were bolstered with a rapid 49 from Minaj from just 26 balls as the boys totalled 278-8. Marshy then turned the screw, taking 4-22 from 14 overs as Greenmount could only reach 156-8 in reply. Comments received suggest that Haguey had a particularly good game behind the stumps, pulling off several excellent dismissals, while Bret managed to inch up the repair bill by shattering a windown, as seen below!

Whoops

Over at Edenfield, Kenny continued his good form with 47 and Clive chipped in with a quick 32 not out as the 2s posted 168-8. Edenfield were going well at 80-3 but Nelly and Russ bowled excellently to halt the charge, with Nelly in particular tying down the home batsmen. Birdy finished with a season's best 6-49 as the home side fell 12 short in the chase and the 2s exacted revenge for defeat earlier in the season.

Reports received suggest a very patchy standard of cricket definitely enlivened by some excellent Totts fielding; Bird's near-horizontal catch off his own bowling was a particular standout mentioned by several, while Nelly B also took a great low caught and bowled to help swing the game our way. Final mention for Hayesy who took a stunner first ball of Edenfield's reply. Some comments also suggested that Seeley, who looked like winning the game for the home side, was somewhat stranded by his teammates, as he was batting very well.

Meanwhile the girls completed an excellent weekend with two good wins. A Friday night T20 win at Monton and Weaste was followed by a thumping victory against St Anne's. Despite missing various players due to holidays, Danielle's side all chipped in and totalled 250 before knocking over the visitors in short order, with Katie Schofield showing her class with 6-7!
