2S DEMOLISH GREENMOUNT TO STRENGTHEN TITLE CHASE

Watty's boys continued their highly impressive season and now stand potentially just one win away from securing their second successive title after a comprehensive 8 wicket win against local rivals and neighbours Greenmount on a showery Bank Holiday at the Meadows.

The visitors were rolled over for just 59 courtesy of twin 5 wicket hauls for Farhan and Sail, and, despite a stumbling start, young Ry Marsh continued his impressive recent form to slam 40 not out in quick time to secure maximum points in a shade over 2 hours of play. This was a highly impressive result against the side that before the weekend was our closest title rivals - the success was further bolstered with news that Swinton Moorside, the other team in title contention, had their game abandoned due to the weather. Greenmount also took just a single point against Roe Green on Sunday, effectively putting them out of the title race as Totts and Moorside have yet to play each other.

There was less good news for the 1sts on Saturday, as a total of 120 proved insufficient to hold off Elton Vale, the visitors recording a 6 wicket win. The 1sts now face a tough trip to Deane and Derby next weekend, while the 2s can put their feet up for a fortnight before the end of season games at Elton and possibly the title deciding match against Swinton!
