New roof in place, with aid from Biffaward

We are delighted to announce that the clubhouse roof has been replaced with a brand spanking new model, with significant aid from Biffaward, who provided a grant of £4,500 towards the work.

The old roof had withstood time and endless winters of rain before succumbing to leaks in 2010, which came just after the new pavilion refurbishment. After patching the original, we applied for a grant and were successful in early 2012. Work has now been completed just in time for the 2012 cricket season, and helps secure the facility for around 170 regular users across senior and junior cricket, rounders and junior football!

Kieran Coe, Club Development Officer, said:

"This award has helped us to make secure our pavilion – after refurbishment, the roof was vital to safeguarding our future and our clubhouse."

Gillian French, Biffaward Programme Manager, said:

"Exercise is essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and provides people with the opportunity to socialise and engage with others. The improved facilities at Tottington Sports Club will ensure that the club can continue to bring members of the community together in a positive and stimulating environment."

Biffa provides a range of public sector, commercial and industrial waste collection services as well as the management of 33 operational landfill sites across the UK. The multi-million pound a year Biffaward fund has been set up, using tax charged on waste taken into landfill sites, to help finance environmental projects near Biffa sites.

The committee would especially like to thank Clive for his terrific efforts in securing the grant, and for Kieran who did a great job pulling together quotes and liasing with the roofing company.
